mixtape: June

this month, instead of a bunch of links to songs, I’ve put together a podcast. it’s just one big file (runs about 40 minutes) that you can listen to and download at zshare by clicking on the link below. tracks are listed/babbled about after the jump.

June Mixtape

disclaimer: if you own any of the songs used in this podcast and would like them to be removed, please let me know and I will take care of it. don’t sue me. it should be noted, however, that all of the songs used came from other blogs, the Free Music Archive, or free label samplers. email me at ksglasscock@yahoo.com with complaints.

June Podcast tracklist:

1. The Good Old Days – the Lodger

2. It Ain’t Gonna Save Me – Jay Reatard

3. Crippled Croon (live at KEXP) – Crystal Stilts

4. Daydream – Beach Fossils

5. Freeway – Kurt Vile

6. Fever of the Time – Zeus

7. Chameleon – Brendan Canning

8. When You Were Mine (Prince cover) – Dump

9. Portofino – Teengirl Fantasy

10. Lina – Les Sins

11. Deadbeat Summer – Neon Indian

this mix is supposed to take you from afternoon to night, starting with the Lodger’s guilty-pleasure sugary sweet “the Good Old Days” and followed by Jay Reatard’s frenetic “It Ain’t Gonna Save Me.” Crystal Stilts and Beach Fossils round out the summery, trendy garage/bedroom sound that’s dominated indie music this year. then we slow it down for the late afternoon and evening with some Kurt Vile, Zeus, Brendan Canning, and that sweet little Prince cover by Dump. but then it’s nighttime, eased into with Teengirl Fantasy’s lovely “Portofino” (although that rap sample always weirds me out a little bit). finally, the blissful house-y sounds of Les Sins and Neon Indian.

and feedback is always appreciated, so please, leave a comment. : )
